No Second Troy
How It Came To Be
John Woolf, the base player in No Second Troy (NST), is a friend from college. Knowing my web design prowess, he contacted me to redesign the NST site.
Development Notes
With a couple of tracks from the new album and the album artwork, I set about trying to capture the essence of the band as well as tie in the look-and-feel of the album art. Knowing John and picking up the vibes from the audio, I designed a site that reminded me of cut-n-paste, Xeroxed flyers that I associate with the punk and indie rock scene. Using the album art for the background and color scheme ties the site to the album.
I decided to integrate the site with MySpace as much as possible to keep duplication of work at a minimum for the band. The blog and events are pulled from their MySpace page. Since John is more tech savvy than my typical clients, I made the music player and merchandise editable through text files. This saved development time and helped keep costs down.
Where To See It
I keep a local snapshot (if prompted for a login, the username and password is guest
without the quotes). Currently, the site can be seen live and in action at the No Second Troy Web Site.
