Alex's Movie Quotes

How It Came To Be

Alex, one of my best friends, started an e-mail list to send movie quotes to people for them to guess. Since I had started my first major web project, somethingHollow, I convinced Alex to integrate it into the site. After somethingHollow was abandoned, I created a stand-alone site for him.

Development Notes

I created a forms-based administrative back-end for Alex with ASP. He could add movie quotes to a queue to be e-mailed on a certain date, or e-mail the quote immediately. The quote would be sent to an opt-in list of people, referencing them back to the site to find out what movie the quote appeared in. Alex was also able to add and remove quotes and movie reviews from the database.

The design was an attempt to integrate Alex's personality into the site (Below). To do this, I used a comic-book style word bubble and images of Alex that changed depending on the message in the balloon.

Where To See It

Since it was coded in ASP, I have to re-code it to get it to work with PHP. I haven't done that yet. So, for the time being, I have the following screenshot.
