Robert Brodrecht's Portfolio
I am a web designer.
What does that mean? Being a web designer is more than just a job. It's not about being a graphic designer. It's not about being a programmer. It's about being an elite hybrid of left and right brain, an amalgamation of art and science. It's about being able to clearly see an image, then bring it to life with abstract building blocks. It's about breathing in essence and producing substance.
Did I get your attention?
The browser is my primary medium and HTML is my primary media. I am an artist. Like many artists, I work in mixed media: HTML, CSS, Flash, PNG, JPEG, GIF. Like every artist, I have my tools to bring my creations to the medium: a text editor, Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, JavaScript, PHP, and mySQL, among others. With every project, I have goals that I attempt to meet (despite them occasionally being at odds): standards compliance1, semantic markup1, accessibility1, usability, accurate representation of the subject, cross browser compatibility, beauty.
To fully realize these goals, I hand-code all my sites. I don't rely on a program to create my art for me.
Lets get to it.
I'm posting a few of my sites for your perusal. These aren't necessarily the original works; rather, they may be snapshots of the original. Most sites I work on are dynamic, updatable by the client. Since I can't always provide live sites, momentary views are all that is available.
The following is a list of my five most recent projects (login with the username "guest" and password "guest" if prompted):
- No Second Troy: Read the project description or view the website.
- Robertdot 8.0 (ok, the list is really six, but this one doesn't count since you're looking at it.)
- Ice Ramps: Read the project description or view the website.
- Poc Dawone: Read the project description or view the website.
- EduSearch: Read the project description or view the website.
- Expressions Unlimited: Read the project description or view the website.
The following is a list of a few of my favorite projects that aren't listed above (in chronological order):
So, you think you have work for me...
If you like what I say and like what I do, I am available for hire. However, I think you should read my guidelines for clients first.

You have to start some time! Many items in my portfolio probably don't conform to these goals. It wasn't until early 2006 that these goals came into being. ↩
