    <p>
     I got a wireless card that uses the rt2500 chipset to use on Linux. After I (finally) got it working (<a href="http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_rt2500">Gentoo Wiki Version</a> for starters and <a href="http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2441973.html?sid=2d4488666fffb5bc4c20684c7957729c#2441973">Gentoo Forums</a> to actually get it working), my system would randomly freeze. It turns out that the rt2500 driver does not like SMP / Hyperthreading. So, turn that off in the kernel, recompile, then re-emerge rt2500 if you get an error on the next boot from rt2500 not loading. I'm not sure why I had it on in the first place. Kinda pointless with a P3... Stupid default options.
    </p>

    <p>
     Well, my network is freaking out again. I can't get an ssh connection to my Gentoo box, and I can't connect to it via SMB. What that means is that I can't listen to music, since it is all on the SMB server.

     How cool is it when you get paid to install Gentoo? Of course, I still have to do other things in the mean time, but, hey, no one said life was perfect.
