I might have won the battle against the ants, but the war is still raging. Armed with several weapons of mass destruction, I continue to wage war against these imperialistic assholes.
Two weeks ago, I cleaned. I'm only a few tasks short of finishing my Spring Cleaning
goal (and my Purge Shit
goal). I started this task for two reasons. The first was the ants. They were finding something interesting somewhere, which was why they came in the house. I figure if I remove what they want, they may go away. The second was that we were going to Colorado, so I wanted the house to be clean before we left.
It didn't prevent the ants, but Colorado was fun. Tammy and I, along with my sister and her guy, went with my parents to their condo in Breckenridge. It was fun overall, despite the rocky sleeping conditions (6 people in a studio condo that was really meant for 2 to 4 people at most). Tammy had never skied before, so I showed her the ropes for a few hours on Monday (and ended up scaring her pretty badly on a few blue slopes). Tuesday, we spent the day going over the stuff we learned the day before. Wednesday, it was supposed to snow, so we went to the outlet malls in Frisco. Thursday, the final day of skiing, I let Tammy do her own thing while I went out with the family.
Breck recently installed the Imperial Express that accesses the Imperial Bowl and most of the bowls that, before 2005, had walk-in access only. For whatever reason, I never hiked in. This year, I wanted to do Imperial. When I first wanted to, Nanna-dog (aka Anna) didn't want to go because the winds at the summit were pretty high. So, not wanting to break up the group, I decided to skip until later. We ended up getting back to the Imperial Express about 2 minutes after they closed. So, I didn't get to ski it. Oh, well. Maybe next time.
Thursday night, we caught the premier of American Inventor. I was sorely disappointed. We also missed the second night of The Loop, which was pretty funny (and has a hottie).
Friday, we walked through Breckenridge, doing the shopping thing. We went to Downstairs at Eric's (aka Eric's Underground) for pizza and chit chat. We thought about going to Portland, OR, but it was 18 hours from Breck to Portland, versus the 14 from L.A. to Portland that we could do some other time.
Saturday, we made the 13-15 hour drive back. We managed to hit a sub-par Chick-fil-a on the way home, as well as stop by Las Vegas for an hour to have dinner with Greg Patterson. In Vegas, we thought we'd be up until 2 AM or so. By the time we got home at midnight, we were ready to crash out. It was nice to have my bed back.
Nanna-dog gave me our Game Gears. We had them when we were younger, so the screens are pretty scratched up. I'll be doing the research and eBay searches to see if I can procure some of the TV and two-player accessories as well as repair the screen. My dad put together a few tool sets for me, which is nice.
I also found out that some kids had smashed most of the glass on my dad's Z-cars and broke into his shed across the street from the house. Luckily they didn't damage my dad's old 50-something Chevy truck, or he might be in jail right now for murder and I might be in jail for digging up some murdered kids and setting their bodies on fire. My dad showed an amazing amount of restraint considering the loss he took.
Today, I'm putting stuff up and trying to get back to life-as-usual.
It's been an eventful couple of weeks.
