Boring And All-over-the-place

When I posted this, I was listening to: Ryan Adams - Wonderwall

People have been asking for an update. This is it. It's boring and all-over-the-place. You probably shouldn't read it.

Paul moved out about week ago. Tammy and I started a massive cleaning campaign throughout the house. SO far, it has been pretty successful, except that the parts we haven't cleaned yet are in utter disarray.

Also, about a week ago, I climbed the financial ladder a bit, finally got my mom paid back, and found out that between June 3rd and September 3rd, ESN is going to be on Summer Hours. That means that I get 1/2 of Friday off. That means I can finally do some traveling, as well as tackle some projects.

The other week I started my ToDo list. So far, I've got 40+ items on it. I've knocked a few out and am in the process of the others. One of which was the Sterling Entertainment Group Website. I've got the mockups and storyboards done. Once I get done with that, and this furniture site they are going to hook me up with, I'm going to get started on the Actors Tools software / site. After that, I'm taking a long vacation from side-work. I simply don't have the time or desire to do it right now. I have (many) other things to work on.

Engadget posted an interview with Steve Ballmer. He was talking about getting the iPod to work on the xBox360. He stated that it would read MP3s, but not AAC, since Apple doesn't want anyone to use AAC. I'm hoping Steve Jobs is paying attention. Apple and Sony have been in cahoots. I would love it if Apple licensed their DRM to Sony so that PS3 could play Apple DRM'd AAC files. That is my Bob Cringely-esque prediction. Apple + Sony = iTunes Music Store Music on PS3...

Speaking of iPod. I was docking my iPod last night and noticed that it crunched a little when it plugged in. I think I smiled because it sounded funny, and I thought something along the lines of Consumer electronics make weird noises sometimes... you think they'd clear that up. Maybe I broke something. When I took my iPod off the dock this morning, I realized I DID break something. I broke a spider. The spider was sitting in the dock behind the protruding plug and was inadvertently squished. I laughed even though I had crusty spider guts on my iPod.

One of my projects was to set up Linux on my old P!!! 450. I had to take it apart and put it back together to clear up some issue with booting. I installed Ubutnu, and hated it. I couldn't figure out how to do things I wanted to. Not that it matters, since I am giving the box to Tammy. But I want something I can administer. I tried installing Mephis, and I didn't like it either. So, I guess I'm going back to good-old Gentoo. Now all I need is a week to install it...

As I was working on Linux, I decided to check out my old zip disks to see if I could find databases to re-do my archive. I realize now why Zip Disks suck. If you format the zip disk for FAT32, it puts the partition on SuperBlock4. If it is any other file system, it just sort of takes up the whole disk. So, when you mount on Linux, mount -t VFAT /dev/hdX4 /mnt/zip will mount a FAT32 Zip Disk. mount /dev/hdX /mnt/zip will mount (almost) any other kind of partition. This is a bitch when 1/2 of your disks are FAT32 and 1/2 are Reiser. It takes ages to go through 10 disks...

I am sure rumors are slowly circulating. For personal reasons between Tammy and I, I am now single.

For those of you still in Alabama, if you didn't already know, I'll be home May 28th - June 6th. There WILL be a big party at Alex's. If you are female, it should be of particular note that the theme is Catholic School Girl. I plan on getting decked out (something I never do). You should too.

I told you it was boring and all-over-the-place.

Comments:

  1. Spell Chek Mr. Broderick

I'm not really inebriated, but you must've been when you tried to spell that word. Did you happen to find my lucky poker chip from The Bicycle casino while cleaning? I wish the best for you and Tammy, regardless of the outcome of that situation. You would tell me not to worry about it, because the answer will come in due time. I'm excited about you coming back, mostly because you have 90% of my dress shirts there in LA. Seriously though, we're going to have a ton of fun. I am not opposed to any Catholic school girls by any means. I would dress up as a priest, but I don't want the ladies thinking that I'm looking for young boys. A dilemma for sure.

  2. Smiles And Giggles

I actually laughed a little to myself when I read the paragraph about the spider. Then I had to look around to make sure no one heard me having fun at work. That's against policy.

  3. My Title Was Not Too Long!!!

For some reason, I laugh every time I read that line.

It's almost as funny as the poor dehydrated japanese-speaking grasshopper that made it around the world all dried up in the '8.

  4. Untitled

I wish I would have taken a picture of it... or saved it. Damn lack of fore-thought.
